Agricultural study tour operators Sebright Adventures are delivering a tour of the Victorian potato industry in August to show participants the best of the sector and bring them to the 2018 Victorian Certified Seed Potato Authority (ViCSPA) conference.

Participants can choose from a number of tour options. The longest tour runs from Saturday 11 August to Saturday 18 August and includes:

  • A visit to Melbourne’s Queen Victoria Market.
  • Attendance at the ViCSPA 2018 Potato Industry Conference.
  • Visits to industry sites, including farms in Ballarat and Gippsland, machinery suppliers and a meeting with the McCain Foods team in Ballarat.
  • Valuable exposure to industry research and development at La Trobe University’s AgriBio facility and CSIRO’s AgCatalyst event.
  • A roster of social events, including seeing an AFL game at the MCG and a roster of dinners and networking events.

The tour will be led by Sebright Adventures’ Elizabeth Wharton, a qualified agronomist who has previously worked in the Victorian seed potato industry as an extension officer and plant tissue culture technician at the then-Department of Primary Industries in Victoria.

Participation will be self-funded, and expressions of interest for the tour close on Monday 6 August 2018.
