The latest, most comprehensive data on the Australian vegetable industry is now available online in the Horticulture Statistics Handbook for the year ending 30 June 2017.

Compiled for Hort Innovation by leading Australian market research firm Freshlogic, which specialises in fresh and prepared foods, the Handbook features more than 470 pages of information drawn from a number of supply chain sources, including international trade statistics and industry peak bodies.

The Handbook is divided into four sections reflecting the major sectors in Australian horticulture: vegetables, fruit, nuts and other commodities.

The valuable data for each commodity included in this extensive handbook includes:

  • production volume and value;
  • fresh export and import volume and value;
  • high-level consumer metrics;
  • major Australian production areas;
  • state-by-state production and seasonality information; and
  • net trade statistics and key export destinations.

The vegetable industry data in this handbook provides great insights into the performance of our sector and useful detail on the performance of specific vegetable commodities, making it an invaluable resource for any industry member.

AUSVEG also uses this data as part of our Veggie Stats series highlighting individual vegetable lines, which is published in Vegetables Australia magazine.
