Eurofins Agroscience Services is looking to set up an insecticide trial targeting carrot aphids, and is encouraging growers to get in touch to help with two stages of the project.

For the first stage, Eurofins is interested in locating carrot aphids with the intention of collecting them and breeding them for the project.

In the second stage, Eurofins is looking to conduct two trials to test the efficacy of an afidopyropen product for the control of carrot aphids and to evaluate its impact on crop safety.

These trials can be performed with any carrot or Dutch carrot variety, and any farmers wishing to take part in the project will be compensated appropriately for the lease of their land and any crop losses.

The trials will involve four repetitions of four treatments of the trial pesticide, and half of the trial area will need to be destroyed as the test product is unregistered for use in carrots.

If you’re interested in being part of the pesticide trial or have knowledge of a carrot aphid infestation, please get in touch with us at info@ausveg.com.au and we’ll forward your email on to Eurofins.
