The leading ladies of Australia’s horticulture industry will paint the town pink at Hort Connections 2018 in the name of fundraising for the National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF).

This year’s Women in Horticulture event, which is sponsored by Boomaroo Nurseries and is the latest in a long line of celebrations of the role women play in our industry and in rural and regional communities, is being held in the middle of GO PINK week – so we’re fundraising for the NBCF in support of the mothers, brothers, sisters, husbands, wives, daughters, sons and friends affected by breast cancer.

According to the NBCF, breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in Australia, with 50 women diagnosed every day and 148 men expected to be diagnosed this year. It is estimated that 3,157 people in Australia will lose their battle with breast cancer in 2018 – which equates to around eight women a day and 28 men over the year.

At the Women in Horticulture event, to be held on-site at Hort Connections on Wednesday 20 June, we’ll be raising money by asking attendees if they’d like to make a small cash donation. If you’d like to support this great cause now, we’ve also set up an online donations page, and we’d love it if you could chip in.

With your help, we’re hoping to make a real difference by funding life-changing research that will help the NBCF reach its goal of zero deaths from breast cancer by 2030.
