Reduce the risk of incidents and injuries on quad bikes with WorkSafe Victoria resources
There have been over 200 quad-bike related deaths in Australia in the last 18 years, and more than half of these fatalities have occurred on farms, making them the highest killer of workers in Australia. Tragically, these on-farm deaths include 32 children.
If you or anyone on your farm is going to use a quad bike, it’s vital that you know and protect against the potential risks to make sure everyone gets home safe.
WorkSafe Victoria has launched eight new videos and a range of useful resources that can help you identify hazards and control risks related to quad bike use in your workplace and in the field.
This range of information includes guidance on specific topics including:
- pre-start checks;
- hazard identification and training;
- the risk of rollover;
- inspection and maintenance;
- helmets;
- loads and tyres;
- contractors; and
- the quad bike safety rebate.
If you regularly use your mobile phone in the field, you can also download WorkSafe Victoria’s quad bike safety app, which makes it easy for you to access safety resources no matter where you are – including downloading resources to view them offline if you live or work in an area with limited connectivity.
