Alternative fungicides to procymidone for control of white rot on bunching onions
This poster summarises the results of fields trials with new fungicides to replace procymidone (which was suspended by the APVMA) for control of onion white rot on bunching onions. Application methods and infection criteria were also investigated to improve the efficacy and timing of fungicide sprays. This work was done as part of project VG01096. Fungicide efficacy, application timing and methods and residue data were collected to support applications for minor use permits for the fungicide treatments. Up-to-date information on registered and permitted chemicals should be obtained by growers intending to use chemical control options. Other extension resources discuss the importance of rotation of chemicals from different chemical groups (to prevent the build-up of resistance) and the use of non-chemical management strategies that assist with control of Sclerotinia diseases.
