The export cauliflower industry has grown rapidly in the past but now has reached a mature phase where the growth has slowed. The main export markets for Australian cauliflower are Singapore and Malaysia. The slowing of industry growth is of concern as the industry was valued at $27.9m in 2001/2002. An industry plan which addresses issues which limit potential future growth has been developed by industry representatives. An outcome of this project was the implementation of strategies identified in the plan to increase the productivity and profitability of the export cauliflower industry. The identification of the cauliflower varieties that are suitable for the export market or can be grown in periods of the year where it has been difficult to produce high quality curds was a valuable outcome of the project.
