The Japan Export Symposium was convened on Sunday 22 June at Cairns Convention Centre, Cairns, Queensland. The aim of the Symposium was to deliver a forum specifically designed to explore the opportunities the Japanese market presents while increasing the understanding of what the consumer is seeking in this market. The event was structured in a manner that aligned with the industry’s Strategic Investment Plan and incorporated both domestic and international speakers experienced in business, cultural and market aspects of exporting to Japan. The event was curated to provide an insight into the operation of the industry, logistics, consumer demands and cultural considerations. Invited attendees were carefully selected from those growers throughout Australia that either had potential to provide, or had indicated interest in developing an export operation focused on Japan. The event was held immediately following the AUSVEG National Convention, Trade Show and Awards for Excellence and took advantage of the synergies grouping these events provided.
