This project commenced in the 1989-90 cropping season with the objective of introducing to outdoor capsicum and tomato crops on the Northern Adelaide Plains (NAP) the biological control of two-spotted mite using the predatory mite Phytoseiulus persimilis. Careful monitoring of the two-spotted mite populations allowed successful control of this pest on 6 hectares of tomatoes and capsicums with Phytoseiulus persimilis and an integrated chemical spraying program.
