Attachment
This project was undertaken to diversify the Queensland processing vegetable industry and also extend the processing sweetcorn season from 8-10 weeks to 32 weeks by commercialising the first sweetcorn varieties in the world with tropical adaptation. An international benchmarking study, commissioned (with HRDC) in 1992, clearly indicated the development of processing sweetcorn varieties with tropical adaptation would open the way for the development of an internationally competitive sweetcorn industry in Queensland.
