AUSVEG and Netafim sign strategic partnership
AUSVEG CEO, Mr Richard Mulcahy and Netafim Managing Director, Mr Levy Schneider, today announced that AUSVEG and Netafim have joined together in a strategic partnership.
Netafim is a world class leader in the field of agricultural irrigation systems for farms and landscaping, operating in 112 countries and employing 2,400 people around the globe.
AUSVEG is the national peak industry body representing the interests of 9,000 Australian vegetable and potato growers.
Mr Mulcahy said that “This is an important ecological partnership for the Australian vegetable industry. We are looking forward to working closely with Netafim in the field of water management to provide Australian growers with the latest and most innovative solutions.”
“With such a focus on water management these days, we feel that Netafim is a positive ally for the horticulture industry providing solutions in irrigation systems for growers all over Australia,” he said.
Founded in 1965, Netafim launched the drip irrigation revolution by introducing a new concept of low-volume irrigation.
AUSVEG has worked with Netafim in the past, organising a group of Australian growers to visit the Netafim head office in Israel last year to learn more about water conservation measures and innovative irrigation systems.
“The tour was a great success last year and only furthered our enthusiasm to partner with Netafim to allow us to work more closely in giving Australian growers irrigation opportunities of a global standard,” Mr Mulcahy said.
The 2011 AUSVEG National Convention and Trade Show in Brisbane, coming up in April, will be the ideal forum to highlight this new partnership between Netafim and AUSVEG.
Netafim will play a key role in the 2011 AUSVEG National Awards for Excellence by presenting the newly announced ‘Environmental Award’, recognising Australia’s vegetable growers’ world class environmental practices.
“We thought it would be fitting to give the honour of presenting this new award to Netafim, because of their strong focus on the environment and positive water solutions,” Mr Mulcahy said.
