New South Wales potato grower Mr Geoff Moar has been re-elected unopposed to the position of AUSVEG Chair following a Board meeting held on Thursday 26 November in Sydney.

At the Annual General Meeting (AGM), held on the same day, Mr Moar was also re-elected unopposed to the AUSVEG Board.

Mr David Addison, a vegetable grower from Tasmania, was also re-elected to the Board and re-elected to his position as Deputy Chair.

“AUSVEG continues to be one of the most respected and influential agricultural representative bodies in the country and this is largely due to the depth of both industry and business knowledge represented in its leadership at a Board level,” said AUSVEG CEO Richard Mulcahy.

“The AUSVEG Board includes some of Australia’s most respected vegetable and potato growers as well as highly experienced Independent Directors, who combine their knowledge to deliver strong leadership and direction for the Company.”

AUSVEG is the leading horticultural body representing more than 9,000 Australian vegetable and potato growers.

The meeting coincided with the AUSVEG AGM, which was attended by representatives from all of the state grower organisations, including newly established AUSVEG VIC.

During the AGM, AUSVEG was praised for being in a great position in terms of all aspects of its business and representing the interests of vegetable and potato growers effectively at all levels of government.

“Given the current economic climate of increasing production costs and tighter margins facing our growers, it is vital for their interests to be well represented in the political sphere and in the media,” said Mr Mulcahy.

“AUSVEG looks forward to continuing its success in representing Australian vegetable and potato growers in the year ahead.”
