AUSVEG welcomes the new Minister for Agriculture, the Honourable Joel Fitzgibbon
The National Peak Industry Body for vegetable and potato growers, AUSVEG, has welcomed the Federal Government’s newly appointed Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry, The Honourable Joel Fitzgibbon MP.
“On behalf of the Australian vegetable and potato industries, AUSVEG welcomes the Honourable Joel Fitzgibbon as the new Federal Agriculture Minister. We look forward to working alongside him in continuing to improve the horticulture sector,” said AUSVEG Public Affairs Manager, William Churchill.
AUSVEG is Australia’s leading horticulture body representing Australia’s 9,000 vegetable and potato growers.
“The vegetable industry is an industry worth over three billion dollars, and it is a sector with enormous potential in regards to its contribution to the Australian economy. Horticulture is a backbone for many rural and regional communities as well a significant employer,” said Mr Churchill.
“We look forward to working with Minister Fitzgibbon in addressing the challenges facing the horticulture sector,” said Mr Churchill.
The announcement of the new Federal ministers was confirmed by Prime Minister Kevin Rudd this morning in Newcastle, New South Wales.
