Convention, Trade Show and Awards for Excellence and associated events, highlighting the
increasing international recognition of the event, the biggest of its type in Australia.

“Australian-grown vegetables are considered the cream of the crop in terms of their international
standard of quality and safety, so it’s great to see the rest of the globe sit up and pay attention to the
AUSVEG National Convention,” said AUSVEG National Marketing Manager, Simon Coburn.

AUSVEG is the leading horticultural body representing Australia’s 9,000 vegetable and potato

Thirty-one representatives from nations such as New Zealand, Canada, the United States, Japan,
both Hong Kong and mainland China, the United Kingdom, Malaysia, Belgium, the Netherlands,
Israel and the United Arab Emirates are set to attend the AUSVEG Convention, with more
international guests expected to confirm over the coming weeks.

The AUSVEG National Convention, Trade Show and Awards for Excellence, to be held at Jupiters
Gold Coast from 30 May – 1 June, has established itself as the premier event in Australian
horticulture. The Convention brings vegetable and potato growers from around the country together
to share new technologies, ideas and business skills, making it a must for every horticultural

“Though the AUSVEG National Convention is already widely recognised as the leading event in
Australian horticulture, this international interest demonstrates that the Convention has also
achieved great esteem among horticulturalists worldwide,” said Mr Coburn.

Given these global interests, events at this year’s Convention are set to adopt an emphasis on
international possibilities and opportunities.

The Australian vegetable industry is increasingly focusing on international export markets, with
projects including a Reverse Trade Mission and Exporting to China Symposium taking place over
the coming weeks.

“The Convention has sparked interest from all corners of the globe; and AUSVEG has also gone to
great lengths to establish these international connections,” said Mr Coburn.
