One thousand delegates are expected to return to the Sunshine State from 30 May – 1 June for the AUSVEG National Convention, Trade Show and Awards for Excellence – the biggest event in Australian horticulture.

“The AUSVEG National Convention will put the ‘gold’ back into the Gold Coast this May and is expected to generate around one million dollars of expenditure in the local area over the three day period,” said AUSVEG Chair, John Brent.

“Many growers incorporate the AUSVEG National Convention into their holiday plans, so the economic benefits to the region and its businesses will be felt both before and after the event,” said Mr Brent.
AUSVEG is the National Peak Industry Body representing Australia’s 9,000 vegetable and potato growers.
Selected for its leading convention and hotel facilities, white sandy beaches and favourable climate, the Gold Coast will once again play host to the very best of Australian horticulture, following the runaway success of the 2010 National Convention which was also held at Jupiters Gold Coast.
“With events such as the ever-controversial Great Debate, which is this year discussing Genetic Modification (GM), the inaugural Kalfresh Food Security Panel and of course, the weekend’s pinnacle – the Awards for Excellence Gala Dinner – the 2013 National Convention promises to be the biggest and most successful yet,” said Mr Brent.
Some of Australia’s biggest political names, including the Hon. Senator Joe Ludwig, Federal Minister for Agriculture, and Leader of the Greens, Senator Christine Milne, will join delegates at the Awards for Excellence Gala Dinner on the evening of Saturday 1 June.
“The Awards for Excellence will recognise those who have made significant contributions to the vegetable industry, and has fast become one of the most-respected awards ceremonies in Australian agriculture,” said Mr Brent.
“With two days’ of informative and exciting Speaker Sessions, the 2013 AUSVEG National Convention, Trade Show and Awards for Excellence is an event not-to-be-missed,” said Mr Brent.
