A number of lines of prepackaged leafy vegetable products have been voluntarily recalled following a food safety incident.

“The producer, Victorian-based Tripod Farmers, has voluntarily recalled the product lines nationally following advice from the Victorian Department of Health of a possible link to cases of salmonella infection,” said AUSVEG National Manager – Scientific Affairs Dr Jessica Lye.

“The company has been a long-term grower and supplier of leafy-vegetable products for the local and export markets, and is a well-respected industry participant.”

“AUSVEG is currently working with Tripod Farmers and the Victorian Department of Health and Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ) following reports of salmonella infection linked to leafy vegetables.”

“The Australian vegetable industry is committed to ensuring that food recall incidences are handled swiftly so that consumers can have confidence in their vegetable produce.”

“The Victorian Department of Health has advised consumers not to eat the prepackaged food products in question, indicating consumers should either return them to their place of purchase for a refund or throw it out.”
