South Australian vegetable growers will have the opportunity to hear from leading researchers and industry representatives on the latest tools and research available for them to assist in managing their farms at a workshop to be held in Virginia on Wednesday 30 March.

The workshop will be hosted by AUSVEG and will feature presentations from key industry representatives, including Mr Andrew Shaw, AUSVEG Environment Coordinator and Mr Geoff Raven, Manager Plant and Food Standards at Biosecurity SA.

Attendees will also hear from Mr Noel Johnston, Irrigation and Soil Management Trainer at Irrigation Management Training, as well as Mr Paul Hart, National Commercial Manager at Solargain. 

“This information session is a great way for South Australian vegetable growers to keep their fingers on the pulse of industry R&D and to interact with leading industry members to discover the latest tools that can help them in the everyday management of their businesses,” said AUSVEG Environment Coordinator Andrew Shaw.

“Growers will be able to learn more about best practice techniques, including pest free area development, as well as being informed on the latest solutions from some of the country’s leading agribusinesses about ways growers can improve their growing operations.”

“Growers will also receive an update on the industry’s EnviroVeg Program for an update on the most environmentally sustainable growing techniques that can be used on farm.”

“By offering growers and industry members a forum to openly discuss the latest research and developments in the industry, the most relevant information can be disseminated to growers for them to improve the productivity and profitability of their businesses.”  

AUSVEG is the leading horticultural body representing Australia’s 9,000 vegetable and potato growers.

EnviroVeg is the vegetable industry’s comprehensive environmental management program and aims to improve grower’s bottom lines by encouraging the use of environmentally-friendly practices on-farm and demonstrating environmental best practice to consumers.
