Vegetable industry’s EnviroVeg manual to be launched in Vietnamese
The Vietnamese version of the EnviroVeg manual will be officially launched by the South Australian State Member for Taylor, Ms Leesa Vlahos MP, at the Vietnamese Farmers Association of South Australia (VFASA) event on Saturday 23 January in Virginia.
The EnviroVeg manual has long been a valuable resource for vegetable growers in Australia, containing more than 450 pages of information on best practice and sustainable farming methods for members of the EnviroVeg Program.
“The translation of the EnviroVeg manual is a major win for the Vietnamese vegetable growing community. Vietnamese growers will now have the option of accessing the important information in this valuable, translated resource,” said AUSVEG Environment Coordinator Andrew Shaw.
“The EnviroVeg manual is a great reference tool for growers to use when planning and operating their businesses. As well as providing the grower with a reference manual when developing their business, the manual is a stepping stone to developing good environmental credentials in vegetable growing operations.”
AUSVEG is the leading horticultural body representing over 9,000 Australian vegetable and potato growers.
EnviroVeg is the vegetable industry’s comprehensive environmental management program and aims to improve growers’ bottom lines by encouraging the use of environmentally-friendly practices on-farm and demonstrating environmental best practice to consumers.
The EnviroVeg manual also contains useful resources for growers, including developed templates on pest management identification, good practice guidelines for responsible chemical management and resource links for growers to access more information on these topics.
“Whether you’re looking for information on soil nutrition or business management, the EnviroVeg manual is a powerful asset in the Australian vegetable grower’s knowledge bank,” said Mr Shaw.
The EnviroVeg Program is funded by Horticulture Innovation Australia Limited using the National Vegetable Levy and funds from the Australian Government.
Interested growers can access hard copies of the translated manual by contacting AUSVEG on (08) 8221 5220 or emailing info@ausveg.com.au. For further information on the EnviroVeg Program, visit www.enviroveg.com.
