Two Western Australians were tonight recognised for their significant contributions to Australian horticulture at the AUSVEG National Awards for Excellence Gala Dinner at Jupiters Gold Coast, Queensland.

AUSVEG is Australia’s leading horticultural body representing 9,000 vegetable and potato growers.

Danny Trandos, General Manager, Trandos Hydroponic Growers, was presented with the Dow AgroSciences Young Grower of the Year Award.

Trandos Hydroponic Growers, located in Western Australia, are a leading supplier of vegetable seedlings and young plants to horticultural producers across the country.

AUSVEG Chairman, John Brent, congratulated Mr Trandos on his award, stating that AUSVEG had received an impressive number of nominations across all National Awards for Excellence categories.

“In his lead role with Trandos Hydroponic Growers, Danny has demonstrated his commitment to both his family’s world-class hydroponic growing operation and the wider vegetable industry,” said Mr Brent.

The DuPont Industry Recognition Award was presented to Figaro Natoli of Natoli Produce Farms in Gnangara. Figaro is a grower of specialised bunching lines.

“The Industry Recognition Award acknowledges Figaro’s long-term commitment to the industry and his proactive use of leadership skills for the greater good of the Australian vegetable-growing community.”

“Figaro has been a stalwart member of the industry for many years and has been an incredible contributor to vegetables. His recognition has truly been earned,” said Mr Brent.
