Gold Coast, Queensland – The 2015 AUSVEG Women in Horticulture Award, proudly sponsored by Steritech, was tonight presented to Queensland vegetable and potato grower Kerri Lamb at the 2015 National Awards for Excellence held at Jupiters Gold Coast.

The award is supported by Steritech, a leader in sterilisation and decontamination services for domestic and export markets, and the proud sponsor of the Women in Horticulture event at the National Horticulture Convention. Ms Lamb received the award in recognition of her contribution to her company Wickham Farms and her involvement in the wider industry.

“Kerri has proven herself as an industry leader through her participation in a range of industry initiatives, including the Reverse Trade Mission Produce Display, export development and assisting with media and public affairs activities within the industry,” said AUSVEG CEO Richard Mulcahy.

“Kerri is testament to the fundamental role that women play in Australian horticulture, be it in key managerial roles or behind the scenes, and this award is an important recognition of that fact.”

“Based in Queensland, Kerri has proven to be a dynamic and proactive leader in the industry, both as the driving force behind her business and with her hard work ensuring other women in horticulture gain the recognition they deserve. She is a worthy recipient of this award.”

Ms Lamb is an Executive of Wickham Farms in Queensland and oversees business development, quality assurance and processing operations. The business produces and processes potatoes, pumpkins, carrots and onions for the quick service restaurant sector, and is also a large supplier to Coles.

Under Ms Lamb’s leadership and direction, Wickham Farms has also recently diversified to introduce vacuum sealed and pre-cut products for restaurants and exporting.

AUSVEG is the leading horticultural body representing Australia’s 9,000 vegetable and potato growers.

The 2015 National Horticulture Convention, Trade Show and Awards for Excellence, now incorporating AUSVEG and Apple and Pear Australia Limited, is the biggest event in Australian horticulture, with this year’s event attracting around 1,400 local and international delegates.
