Researchers from VIC DPI, Qld DEEDI and Peracto have found that green manures and Brassica biofumigant crops provide many benefits within vegetable cropping systems, which is assisting with the development of new strategies for managing soil-borne diseases. This 4-page fact sheet, produced as part of the IPM Vegetable Disease Program, reports on the findings of project VG07125, for example that the in-field effects of Brassica biofumigant crops include excellent weed suppression, a reduction of root rots in green beans, a reduction in lettuce drop, and an increase in the fresh weight of spring onions.
