Developing The Sterile Insect Technique For Eradication Of Incursions Of Mediterranean Fruit Fly In Australia
This study examines the research and development undertaken on developing a sterile insect technique for eradication of Mediterranean fruit fly. The result of the study supports the continued use of SIT for the eradication of medfly given that specific conditions are in place. Conditions include the continued access to a reliable source of good quality sterile flies as well as the supporting such programs with scientific assessment of distribution and density of released insects.
