Growers around Victoria are set to benefit from a massive line-up of free workshops that are being coordinated by the VegNET program (being delivered in north, western and south-eastern Victoria by RMCG).

These workshops (some of which are being co-organised and funded by the VegPRO program) will cover key industry training and education needs, with the line-up stretching from March until September 2018, and are free for levy-paying vegetable growers as part of a levy investment under the Hort Innovation Vegetable Fund.

These events will focus on the following topics:

  • 28 March 2018: CSIRO food extrusion demonstration and vegetable leafminer management (Tyabb)
  • 24 April 2018: Future Farming Field Day (Werribee)
  • 2 May 2018: Farm biosecurity planning and vegetable leafminer management (Shepparton)
  • May 2018: Food Innovation Centre capability course
  • June 2018: GAIN Vegetable group coaching
  • 23 July 2018: Irrigation training (Robinvale)
  • 24 July 2018: Irrigation training (Clyde)
  • August 2018: Postharvest management of vegetables training (Werribee)
  • 3 August 2018: VegInnovations product development workshop (Epping)
  • 24-25 September 2018: Chemical handling course (Lara)
  • 26-27 September 2018: Chemical handling course (Clyde)
  • September 2018: Pest and disease identification workshop (Cranbourne)
  • September 2018: Pest and disease identification workshop (Lara)
