Attachment
The production of a number of horticultural and agricultural crops in Australia requires pollination in order to bear satisfactory marketable yields. In addition, the value of honey and beeswax production in Australia is estimated at about $70 million. The profitability of the industry is dependant, in part, upon having healthy productive bee hives. However, incursions of exotic pests such as Varroa mite would adversely affect the industry as infestations can not only reduce the profitability of the bee hives but also threaten their viability. This project prepared and submitted minor-use applications for the three miticides to the Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority (APVMA).
