Size of vegetable establishments• 62% of vegetable growers are on establishments of less than 50 hectares and 74% on establishments of less than 100 hectares.
• The number of growers on farms of less than 100 hectares fell by 6.6% in 2008/09 to 4297.
• The number of farms of more than 500 hectares fell by 17.4% in 2008/09 to 488.
• The biggest declines in 2008/09 were farms of 750-5000 hectares with the number of establishments in these categories totaling 224, down by 33% from 335 in 2007/08.
