AUSVEG has been trialling a new a consumer-facing social media channel targeted at consumers. The campaign – #EatMoreAusVeg – is designed to address the barriers to eating more vegetables.

Starting with Instagram, @eatmoreausveg aims to provide practical and handy information about a range of vegetables, designed and delivered in a clean, colourful and engaging format.

In addition to posting commodity facts, recipes, and tips to reduce food waste, AUSVEG also aims to personalise the industry and promote vegetable farming through on-farm grower videos such as this one of Adam Farley from Victoria, to show people where their fresh produce comes from.

To date, we have trialled a social media campaign partnership with VicHealth, collaborating with its CEO and social media influencer Dr Sandro Demaio, to share a series of on-trend Instagram videos of him making veg-based dishes at home. Sandro has over 16,000 Instagram followers and his #eatmoreausveg videos have been viewed over 12,000 times.

We aim to mobilise food writers, chefs, nutritionists, and other food system influencers to encourage everyone to eat more Australian-grown veg, by teaming up to support the #EatMoreAusVeg campaign via their social media channels.
