Hort Innovation has recently begun research to understand the seasonal workforce in the horticulture sector, and the impacts of COVID-19. A collaboration between Hort Innovation and Ernst & Young, the project aims to:

  • Estimate the foundational seasonal labour workforce demands within the horticulture sector.
  • Understand the challenges faced by the industry regarding the seasonal workforce.
  • Assess how labour demand and supply are expected to evolve over the coming months.
  • Identify potential supply gaps and other critical impacts from COVID-19.

To this end, a quick survey has been designed to gather information from growers about seasonal labour requirements. In particular, the challenges you’re facing to access seasonal workforce as a result of COVID-19, and the impact of border closures and restricted mobility.

As the impacts of COVID-19 continue, it is critical that your input is reflected early to ensure the sector is informed and can respond effectivelyPlease submit your response by Friday 7 August 2020.

Please note that the data collected through this work is strictly confidential but will play an important role in understanding and addressing our industry’s labour requirements.
