Vegetables Australia – Summer 2021/21 has exceeded 80 pages, with plenty of R&D updates and industry news as well as grower and industry member profiles.

At 84 pages, our largest publication ever has updates from VegNET Regional Development Officers, who are situated right across the country. Topics in this edition include fall armyworm, on-farm drone usage, soil moisture monitoring, and much more.

Labour shortages continue to affect Australia’s horticulture, and the issue was thrown back into the spotlight as a result of an Ernst & Young report. In this edition, we outline the findings of the Seasonal Horticulture Labour Demand and Workforce Study, which was commissioned by Hort Innovation.

Meanwhile, we have published a ‘Meet the AUSVEG Board’ section where you can learn about our Board of Directors. This is made up of representatives from our state member organisations, as well as Board-appointed skills-based Directors.

We also speak to Carl Young from Redgold, a vegetable growing operation located in Victoria’s Mallee region; Kagome Farms Australia – General Manager Field Operations Chris Taylor; as well as previous Women in Horticulture award winners Belinda Adams, Deborah Corrigan, Rachel Mackenzie and Sharron Windolf.
